"Perhaps a modern society can remain stable only by eliminating adolescence, by giving its young, from the age of ten, the skills, responsibilities, and rewards of grownups, and opportunites for action in all spheres of life. Adolescence should be a time of useful action, while book learning and scholarship should be a preoccupation of adults."

—Eric Hoffer (1902-83) American philosopher

How to get involved!

Volunteering

In order to be a library volunteer, you have to be at least 16 years old.  Currently, we have five ladies who volunteer one morning a week, two of them are retired school librarians.  These ladies are wonderful and a great help to our staff!

Sometimes, we have students who need community service hours for National Honor Society or some other school-related reason; they come in and help out by bundling magazines, shelving materials, and other tasks.

Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library

are another group of volunteers that help the library by helping with our on-going as well as bi-annual book sales.  Some staff the book sale, itself, and work as cashiers.  Others sort the donations into categories and box them until the sale date or help set-up the room for the sale.
